The W.A.R.E. Concept

Russell Institution Of Learning began in the minds and hearts of individuals at least five generations ago. Both sides of my family have had visionaries who believed that education was valuable and should be accessible by all.

Each generation passed on the love of learning. They advocated that learning should not only occur in the classroom, but also within the community.  Education must have a practical application to the benefit of others.

My maiden name that I still use as an official middle name has inspired the concept W. A. R. E.

With-it-ness

With-it-ness is the ability to be actively engaged in one activity and yet simultaneously be aware of the surrounding environment.

As a teacher or parent, this means that while you may be with one child you are monitoring the words and behaviors of another.  You are able to quickly navigate from one "crisis" to another, and back again to the original without missing a beat.

Adaptability

Adaptability is akin to resourcefulness.  Adaptability is the ability to have one activity planned, but the ability to deliver the same outcome objective through a different medium or process.

This is very real in our technological age.  Teachers and parents must be prepared to deliver learning opportunities in various modalities and not depend upon only one...it may not be available for whatever reason.

About Jan Ware Russell Ph.D.

I believe God has guided my journey through various venues to allow me an empathetic understanding of individuals from all walks of life.  My educational journey has taken me through acquiring skills in counseling, technology, business, education, and leadership.  I believe I am at a junction in my life where God is fulfilling the purpose he laid out before the foundation of the Earth. I desire to make a difference in this age and provide a voice for those who can’t be heard.

Resourcefulness

Resourcefulness is the ability to match the need of the student or child with the appropriate material that is age and skill appropriate.

Resourcefulness also views the child in a holistic manner and takes into account materials and activities that allow them to discover their God-given purpose.

Energy and Enthusiasm

Energy and enthusiasm speak for themselves.  However, when you are a teacher or parent you give of yourself beyond the amount of energy or enthusiasm that you may think you possess.

Many years ago I told myself, "fake it til you make it!" You are on stage each time you are in front of a child.  They are your audience and you want to captivate their attention with your energy and enthusiasm.
